The YMCA of Central Florida and the Southwest Orlando Jaycees are proud to partner with the City of Orlando's Mayor Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission to celebrate the lives and legacies of two great men - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and Arthur "Pappy" Kennedy, Orlando's first black elected official.

As community partners, we are committed to Dr. King's and Pappy Kennedy's messages of equality and unity by bringing together people of all faiths, religions, races, ethnicities and economic backgrounds. Each year, we honor their work by choosing Arthur "Pappy" Kennedy Lifetime Achievement Award and Arthur "Pappy" Kennedy Scholarship recipients.
