The Southwest Orlando Jaycees Parade Committee cordially invites you to participate in the 33rd Annual Downtown Orlando Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10:00AM as we reflect on Dr. King s legacy of peace with justice for our world. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an integral part of the Civil Rights Movement which laid the foundation for the equality of treatment and opportunity enjoyed in America and around the world today. The theme for the 2017 King Day celebration is “Remember, Celebrate, and Act….King’s Legacy of Peace with Justice for Our World.”
As we strive to commemorate the 53rd Anniversary of the March on Washington and the UNITY established on that day; we ask corporations, civic organizations, homeowner associations, youth groups, and churches alike to highlight their presence and show support for this effort and our local community. We are hopeful that the 2017 parade and celebration will remind our attendees that we depend on each other in our community to prosper and keep growing.
Participating in the event is not only fun but it can also provide you with an excellent way to market your organization or business at a minimal expense? We are asking all participants to embrace this year’s theme in their submissions. Because we all enjoy an eventful parade we are encouraging decorative floats and discouraging a traditional motorcade for this year’s parade. Entries are limited, so please note the application deadline date and submit your application with required attachments, as early as possible.
Parade Entry Deadline: Monday, January 2, 2017
